Baker County Release Records
A release ends one recorded custody episode. It does not always mean the person walked into the community. The Baker County Detention Center holds local defendants as well as people connected to outside counties, ICE, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the federal Bureau of Prisons. A person may leave after bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, completion of a county sentence, or another court order. The same person may instead be transferred to an outside county, Florida prison, federal custody, or immigration custody. The responsible agency and release type determine which record comes next.
A live roster answers a different question: who is reported in the jail now? During the research inspection, all 122 records in the sheriff feed carried an IN custody code. The feed did not display old entries, release dates, release reasons, destinations, or projected dates. Once a name disappears, the roster alone cannot distinguish release from transfer, correction, or an agency handoff. Confirm the exit with a jail record and the legal basis with the court or other custodian.
- Release
- The end of a specific agency's custody event.
- Discharge
- The formal end of a sentence or custodial obligation recorded by the responsible agency.
- Time served
- A court or agency determination that the required local custodial time has been satisfied.
- Detainer
- A request or notice from another authority that may lead to transfer or continued custody.
Baker County Release Types
The recorded event points to the best confirming source. Baker County's mixed jail population makes transfer language especially important. “Released from local charges,” “out of the Baker jail,” and “free of all custody” are three different claims. The first can occur while the person stays in the same building under a new authority.
| Recorded event | What it means | Best confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | The court or authorized process allowed release on stated terms. | Bond or first-appearance order plus jail exit record |
| Time served or sentence complete | The responsible agency recorded the local term as satisfied. | Judgment, jail credit, and release timestamp |
| Dismissal or nolle prosequi | The listed charge ended, though another hold may remain. | Court disposition and jail release record |
| Probation or community control | Custody gave way to a court-ordered supervision status. | Judgment and correct supervision agency |
| Parole or conditional release | Florida prison custody ended under an FCOR/FDC mechanism. | FCOR action, FDC release record, supervision search |
| Transfer or detainer | Another authority assumed or retained control. | Sending record and receiving agency confirmation |
The court file can show the order that made an exit possible. The physical release time normally comes from the jail or prison record. Keep both when the exact sequence matters.
Baker Release Record Fields
The sheriff's public request form does not publish a fixed field list. A focused request should name the fields needed rather than assume the office stores a custom report. Ask for the booking and release or discharge record, and identify the person with a full name, date of birth, and inmate number when known. Request the booking photograph as a separate item.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Booking number | Connects the release to the correct custody episode. |
| Admission date and time | Marks the start of the recorded jail stay. |
| Release date and time | Marks when this facility ended the episode. |
| Release type or reason | Distinguishes bond, sentence completion, transfer, and other outcomes. |
| Responsible agency | Identifies which authority controlled the next step. |
| Public transfer destination | May show continued custody with another facility or jurisdiction. |
Florida's GS2 schedule treats booking records, commitment and release lists, and inmate incarceration records as distinct series. Each has a minimum retention of one anniversary year after release. Jail docket books are permanent. Those rules do not require Baker County to place the records online for the same period.
Request Baker County Release Records
Use the Baker County Sheriff's Office public-records form for the facility record. The form requires a description of the information and a contact email; the name field is optional. It states no fixed fee or turnaround. Keep the submitted text and any confirmation. Call the main office at 904-259-2231 for form questions or the detention line at 904-259-3311 for current jail information.
- Identify the person and custody episode with full name, birth date, inmate ID, and an approximate booking or release range.
- Ask for booking number, admission and release timestamps, release type, responsible agency, and any public transfer destination.
- Request the booking photograph as a separate record if it is needed.
- For a group of releases, state exact start and end timestamps and ask for an existing Commitment and Release List or equivalent.
- Review any redactions or fee estimate, then ask the office to cite a withholding basis if a requested field is withheld.
Florida Statutes section 119.07 requires access at reasonable times and conditions, good-faith responses, and production of nonexempt portions after redaction. Default copy charges can reach $0.15 for a one-sided page, $0.05 more for a two-sided page, and $1 for certification, with actual duplication cost for other media. Extensive labor or technology can support a reasonable special-service charge. Baker's form does not promise those will be the only charges in every request.
Baker Release Orders and Timing
Baker's weekday first appearance is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. under the Eighth Judicial Circuit order. A person processed at least three hours earlier should reach that day's docket unless bond has already been posted. Weekend and holiday matters use a regional process. These rules explain when an order may first appear, but they do not promise a fixed exit time.
Search the Baker criminal docket selector by person or case. Look for first appearance, bond, release conditions, dismissal, plea, judgment, jail credit, sentence, probation, warrants, and later violations. The docket establishes legal authority more reliably than a vanished roster entry. It may not record the moment someone passed out of facility control.
The official court search screen shows the Baker County Clerk selection and case-search route. It helps separate a court disposition from the jail's physical release transaction.
Use the case number and event details found there when asking the sheriff for the matching release record.
Baker Release Processing Coverage
A dated 2020-21 county contract required receiving and discharging services around the clock, positive identification, and a record of detainees and officers. It also addressed discharge to properly identified law-enforcement staff and coordination for medical or emergency discharge. This describes past contract operations. It does not establish a current public release door, a public waiting area, or a promised hour when ordinary releases occur.
For current logistics, call the detention center. Ask which authority controls the person and what identification or pickup steps apply. Do not infer a pickup site from the old contract.
Note: A court order can precede physical processing, so the docket time and facility exit time may differ.
Rides After Baker County Release
No fixed-route jail stop or automatic release ride was verified. The Baker County Council on Aging operates Transportation Disadvantaged and intercounty shuttle services through 904-259-9315. Eligibility, advance application, scheduling, pickup, and fare must be confirmed before release. It should be treated as a possible prearranged resource, not an on-demand ride from the detention center.
Release plans should account for the actual custodian and destination. A person transferred to another county, FDC, ICE, or federal control is not awaiting a community ride in Macclenny.
Baker Jail Release Statistics Caution
The December 2024 county-jail report gave Baker an average population of 479, while its felony and misdemeanor pretrial columns totaled 97. Earlier monthly averages rose from 76 in February to 477 in June. These are headcounts, not release totals. The sharp change and documented contract populations show why total jail population cannot be read as a trend in local arrests or local releases.
A release count needs an actual release list or a set of named release records. Population reports measure people present under several jurisdictions. They do not reveal who left, why they left, or which agency took control.
Find Baker County Released Inmates
Begin with the last known custodian. A Baker arrest, an FDC sentence, an ICE detention, a USMS case, and a BOP sentence follow different record paths. The Macclenny jail can hold several of those groups at once. The Sanderson campus also has overlapping state and immigration history. A name or address alone is not enough.
- Check the sheriff roster only to see whether the person is currently reported at the Baker jail.
- Call the detention line and ask whether staff can confirm the status or a county-sentenced release date.
- Search the Baker court docket for the order, bond event, disposition, or sentence.
- Request the sheriff release record for the physical exit and stated release type.
- For state prison, cross-check FDC Release, active Population, and Supervised Population databases.
- Use Florida VINE for a reported custody event and alert, then reconcile any transfer.
- Use BOP, ICE, USMS, or the sending county when that authority controlled the person.
The Released Last 24 Hours page explains how to request a same-day interval because Baker publishes no official recent-release feed. The named-person path remains the sheriff record plus the correct legal or custody record.
Baker State Release Lookup
Florida prison releases use the FDC Inmate Release search, not the Baker jail roster. Search with a six-character DC number when known. It may contain six numbers or one letter followed by five numbers. Name searches act as prefix searches, and an alias option can broaden the result. Photo controls can hide list photos or limit results to records with a photo.
| Field or control | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| DC number | Most exact identifier | Must match the six-character format |
| First and last name | Prefix-based search | Similar names require identity checks |
| Alias option | Finds known alternate names | Can broaden the result set |
| Photo controls | Shows or filters photographs | A photo is not proof of completed release |
| PrisonReleaseDate | Displays a prison release or scheduled date | Future dates require an active-population check |
| Release flag | Explains valid release, death, or coordinated custody | Other-custody flags are not community return |
FDC says this database includes people released or scheduled for release and updates it nightly. A hit with a future date is not a completed discharge. Cross-check the active Population search, then use Supervised Population when parole, probation, conditional release, or community control is expected. Bureau of Admission and Release answers disputed date or flag questions at 850-488-9167.
Baker State Release Identification
Florida Statutes section 944.605 requires FDC to coordinate a certified birth certificate and state identification before expiration-of-sentence release for qualifying Florida-born inmates. It also addresses replacement driver licenses in suitable cases and help with Social Security cards. A process exists for people born outside Florida.
This is an FDC discharge preparation rule. It is not proof that the Baker jail offers the same program. Active detainers and some emergency releases can affect the state process, so confirm the actual record with FDC.
Baker Release Custodian Checks
Baker County Detention Center houses a mixed population. A county case may end while ICE, USMS, BOP, or an outside county still controls the person. An ICE detainer can lead to up to 48 additional hours for a transfer request. A roster exit can therefore be a handoff, not a return home.
For federal sentenced custody, search the BOP inmate locator. A past date or RELEASED status means the person is no longer in BOP custody, not that all custody or supervision ended. USMS pretrial cases require the federal docket, the facility, and the Marshals Service because BOP may never have held the person as a sentenced inmate. ICE cases use ODLS and the Detention Reporting and Information Line at 1-888-351-4024.
| Question | Best source | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Still in Baker jail? | Sheriff live roster and detention line | Current reported physical custody |
| Released from Baker charges? | Sheriff release record and court docket | Exit transaction and legal basis |
| Discharged from Florida prison? | FDC Release plus active Population check | State prison date, flag, and remaining custody |
| Outside prison under supervision? | FDC Supervised Population or county probation | Correct agency and status |
| Out of federal or ICE custody? | BOP or ICE ODLS, plus case records | Agency-specific status, not freedom from all control |
Baker Release Campus Conflict
The Sanderson campus is split and transitioning. FDC annual reports describe Baker CI and its work camp as closed, while a January 2026 state directory and July 2026 FDC public data still show Baker state operations or assignments. Separate 2025-26 sources identify immigration detention at the former main unit. Treating the whole campus as only FDC or only ICE would erase a real source conflict.
Use the custodian printed on the person's paperwork. FDC components require FDC Release, active Population, and Supervised Population checks. The North Florida immigration operation requires ICE ODLS, DRIL, and the relevant immigration or federal case record. A transfer between units or agencies is not a community release.
Baker Release Registration Deadline
Florida VINE can report an Out of Custody event for the source agency and accept release alerts. It is not a historical archive and does not replace BOP or ICE tools. One local post-release rule applies only to people with a statutory registration duty: the Baker sheriff registration page permits a recently released person facing a 48-hour deadline to register outside normal Monday and Tuesday appointment days.
The narrow exception does not apply to all Baker County released inmates. Registration is not completed merely by phone, email, text, or signing a book. The FDLE registry can corroborate status for the legally registrable group, but it cannot show the release status of the public at large.
Baker County Release Facilities
Each facility needs its own release route. The four mapped facilities cover county, state, re-entry, and immigration custody. Their shared geography does not merge their records.
- Baker County Detention Center: confirm local exits with the jail and court, then route outside-county, federal, or ICE movements to that authority.
- Baker Correctional Institution State Components: use FDC's statewide release, population, and supervision databases.
- Baker Re-Entry Center: verify an actual FDC discharge rather than treating a re-entry assignment as release.
- North Florida Detention Facility at Former Baker CI Main Unit: use ICE ODLS, DRIL, and case documents for release, transfer, or removal.
Note: Facility presence can change, so the current custodian shown by official records controls the next search.
